Did you know tight hip muscles can can reduce your performance?

It wasn't until my son went to a sports injury surgeon for an unrelated cause, that she raised the fact that my son's hip flexors were tight and most likely causing him trouble as a goalie getting back up or pushing in his butterfly stance. She continued to explain that it is very important that kids stretch this area as they are prone to tight hip flexors due to long hours sitting at school, with video games or other. After being made aware, I did relate it to my son being slower getting back up from the butterfly of late and we started working on exercises to help him. Within a few weeks, I noticed he improved the speed of recovery from a butterfly drop.

The Doctor did also indicate that the hip flexors are critical for defensive and offensive players as it helps them extend their leg and distribute power for more speed.
